If you think you're picking the healthy option with a salad at McDonald's you may want to reconsider.
A kale salad at the fast food chain has a whopping  200 calories more than a Big Mac.
The leafy vegetable, which is packed with vitamins and iron, has been praised a superfood in recent years.  
But McDonald's Caesar Salad with Crispy Chicken piles on the calories with a creamy Asiago Caesar dressing - which accounts for more than 200 calories and 22 g of fat on its own.

Add in the crispy fried chicken, Parmesan cheese and bacon and suddenly the 'healthy' kale salad ways in at a hefty 730 calories.
That is more than double the calories of two cheeseburgers and around the same as six chicken nuggets and fries.
A Big Mac has just 520 calories and contains 28 grams of fat. While the salad contains 53 grams of fat, and 1,400 milligrams of salt, according to McDonald's nutritional information.
Americans are recommended to consume a maximum of 2,000 milligrams of salt a day,reports.

Meanwhile the blueberry pomegranate smoothie sounds like the no-brainer when it comes to a body-boosting choice,
But just one of these medium-sized smoothies contains 54g sugar and only has four percent of the daily requirement of vitamin C.
To put this into context: that's five and a half Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts worth of sugar.
The World Health Organisation recommends 25g of sugar a day - so one smoothie is equal to two days' worth of sugar.
There are alternatives to those who don't want to eat almost half a day's worth of food in one sitting.
The Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken contains only 280 calories - without a dressing - or 420 with. While a side garden salad has a saintly 40 calories without any dressing. 
An Angus Classic Bacon and Cheese burger is the most calorific item on the menu - coming in at 780 calories. Eaten with a medium fries and coke, the whole meal comes in at a staggering 1350 calories.
